Hi, I’m Jean, and I did the grind myself.
I’m a Filipina virtual assistant based in Cavite. I started in 2020 during the pandemic as a data-entry VA, worked myself up to being a Shopify Manager, Operations Manager in Advertising and Fintech Companies. Now doing AI automations on the side. I built PinoyRemote to hand you the guide I never had.
From data-entry beginner to building automations
No overnight success story. Just steps: each one taught me something I now pass on to you.
Data-entry VA during the pandemic
I started before AI tools like ChatGPT were common, doing data entry and research, five hours a day, after clocking out of my full-time job.
Shopify manager
I built and wrote product pages by hand, did product research and order fulfillment, and learned basic Shopify Liquid to really master the platform. That was the moment I learned the truth about rates: skill raises your value, not years.
Operations Manager, advertising agencies
I handled client requests, managed teams, and solved problems, often the tagasalo of the clients’ blame and frustration. It taught me how to communicate under pressure, which is exactly what clients quietly pay a premium for.
Operations Manager, FinTech
I moved into operations at FinTech companies, higher stakes, more responsibility, and a front-row seat to how payments and processes really work. A lot of the payment and getting-paid advice here comes from that.
Building AI automations on the side
These days I build AI automations (products, software, and small SaaS) while still working as a VA, moving deeper into the AI automation field. PinoyRemote is part of that: proof that you can keep growing from wherever you started.
What makes PinoyRemote different
Most content about Filipino VAs is written for the people hiring us. This is written for the people becoming us.
Real numbers, not vibes
Actual peso and dollar figures, platform fees, and tax math, the specifics that generic global “VA guides” never give you because they don’t live here.
Built for the Philippines
OnlineJobs.ph, GCash, Wise, Payoneer, BIR registration, the 8% tax, timezone overlaps, the things that actually decide whether your freelance income works.
Honest, or it doesn’t ship
Every first-person story here actually happened to me, and every number is checked against a real source. If I can’t verify it, I leave it out. No fake income screenshots, ever.
Ready to begin? I’ll point you the right way.
New to all this? Start with the beginner roadmap. Already working? Jump to getting paid and taxes. Either way, no guesswork.
