GoTyme for Freelancers: How to Receive International Client Payments

GoTyme receive international payments guide cover

Yes, you can receive international client payments in your GoTyme account. GoTyme’s own freelancer payment guide explains how clients can send a bank transfer through SWIFT, with the payment credited in Philippine pesos.

Pero check muna kung paano magse-send yung client. A SWIFT transfer and a Wise transfer paid out in PHP have different fees and processing times, even when both end up in the same GoTyme account.

My experience using GoTyme

If you’re a beginner VA and don’t have a bank account yet, I recommend considering GoTyme. I find the app easy to use, and sending and receiving money has been smooth for me. I prefer it to the traditional bank apps I’ve used.

GoTyme is a bank, and your account has its own bank account number. You can find your receiving details in the app. GoTyme account and receiving information

I’ve used GoTyme several times to receive payments from clients. In my experience, payments below ₱50,000 have arrived almost instantly or on the same day every time. Napansin ko rin na yung almost-instant payments usually came from clients using online or fintech banking services such as Airwallex, Currenxie and WorldFirst. That’s been my experience with my own payments, but the timing can be different for someone else.

These examples do not establish whether the payments used SWIFT or a local PHP payout. The official timing guidance later in this article applies to those specific methods.

I also like being able to request a bank statement or bank certificate through the app without visiting a branch. GoTyme’s guidance describes an in-app request, with the document delivered by email. Check your registered email for it rather than expecting an instant download. Document request FAQ · Bank statement and certificate services

Those are the features I find useful. Before you use it for a client payment, check the method, fees and expected arrival time for that transfer.

First choose how the client will send

Bank transfer through SWIFT: your client uses the international-transfer service at their bank and your GoTyme SWIFT details. GoTyme’s receiving charge and foreign-exchange markup apply.

Wise transfer paid out in PHP: the sender sets up a Wise transfer to your Philippine bank account. GoTyme lists Wise among its remittance partners and says it does not charge a receiving fee for that partner route. Wise’s own transfer and conversion costs can still apply. Check the sender’s quote for the amount you will receive. GoTyme’s explanation of the two routes

The Wise Platform partnership behind GoTyme’s SWIFT service does not make these two payment methods interchangeable. You can use GoTyme’s SWIFT receiving details without opening a separate Wise account. Wise partnership announcement

If you are comparing other ways to receive the same payment, use the GCash, Wise, PayPal and Payoneer comparison to check the full route and final peso amount.

Find your SWIFT details in the app

GoTyme’s help page gives this path: Home → Add Money → Receive Money Abroad → SWIFT. Its freelancer guide calls the first button + Deposit. Follow the receiving-from-abroad option shown in your app. SWIFT instructions · Freelancer guide

Copy the account details from that screen:

  • Bank name
  • SWIFT/BIC code
  • Your account name
  • Your bank account number

GoTyme currently lists GOTYPHM2XXX as its SWIFT/BIC. Use the account number shown in the app for this route, rather than your debit card number. The sender may also need your address or additional bank information. Check any extra fields before they send. GoTyme receiving details · Address guidance

Share only the payment details needed. Your client does not need your login, password, PIN or OTP to pay you.

Know the SWIFT costs before agreeing

GoTyme’s published SWIFT charges are USD 5 per transfer plus a 0.6% foreign-exchange markup. The sender’s bank and intermediary banks may charge separately. The conversion uses the real-time mid-market rate with GoTyme’s markup, so do not budget using the Google exchange rate alone. Official fees and exchange rates

The fixed fee takes a bigger share of a small payment. Here is the USD 5 fee alone, before the FX markup or any other charges:

Amount sentUSD 5 as a share of that amount
$1005%
$5001%
$1,0000.5%

Those percentages are not the total cost. For a fair comparison, ask how much the client will pay in total and how much you are expected to receive in pesos. Compare quotes for the same payment amount, around the same time.

Combining payments can reduce repeated fixed fees, but it also means waiting longer for money you have earned. Kung weekly mo kailangan yung payment, include that in the decision. A lower fee may not be worth a longer wait.

Agree who covers transfer charges before sending the invoice. Otherwise, you and the client may have different ideas about whether the invoice has been paid in full.

Allow for the right processing time

For GoTyme SWIFT, the bank says payments usually arrive within one business day, but can take up to five business days, depending on the sending bank and currency. It lists a USD 50 minimum and no maximum receiving amount. GoTyme can still request documents or review a transaction under its account terms. SWIFT timing and limits

For Wise payouts in PHP, Wise says transfers up to ₱50,000 are instant after it has received and converted the money. Larger transfers usually take one to two working days; conversion itself can take up to two working days. Use the estimate Wise shows for the specific transfer. Wise PHP transfer guide

The sending service alone does not tell you which payment route was used. Check the transfer details before applying either timing estimate.

Keep a buffer between the expected arrival and any bill you need to pay. Avoid promising a deadline based only on the fastest possible transfer.

Your GoTyme balance receives pesos

GoTyme’s receiving account is in PHP. Sending USD does not create a USD balance that you can hold there and convert later. Confirm the supported sending currency before the transfer; USD, EUR, GBP, AUD and SGD appear in its published list. Supported currencies

This can suit you if you need pesos for your expenses. If you need to keep money in another currency, compare an account that supports that use, including its eligibility, holding and withdrawal costs. Do not choose based only on the incoming-transfer fee.

Send clear payment instructions

Once you and the client have chosen SWIFT and agreed the fee arrangement, you can adapt this sample message:

“Hi [name], here are my GoTyme details for the SWIFT payment for invoice [number]:

Account name: [copy from the app]
Account number: [copy from the app]
Bank name: [copy from the app]
SWIFT/BIC: [copy from the app]

Please send [agreed amount and currency]. Our agreed arrangement for transfer fees is [insert agreement]. Let me know if your bank needs any additional details, and please send the transfer reference once payment has been made.”

If the client is using Wise for a PHP payout, give them the recipient details required for that transfer instead. GoTyme’s Wise deposit instructions specify PHP as the receiving currency. The sender should enter the correct recipient; instructions for transferring to your own account should not be copied blindly for a client paying someone else.

For help putting the agreed currency, due date and payment instructions into your bill, read the international client invoicing guide.

If you’re setting up your first client relationship, the optional ₱299 VA Starter Kit includes an onboarding questionnaire and a weekly report format to help you organize the work alongside the payment arrangement.

Check what actually arrived

Match the payment to your invoice, then record the amount sent, the peso amount credited and any visible fees. GoTyme says the fee breakdown appears in Transaction History. Keep the transfer reference with your payment record. Receiving-payment FAQ

If the money is missing or lower than expected:

  1. Confirm the method used, currency, amount and date sent
  2. Check the recipient details against the instructions you supplied
  3. Ask the client for the transfer reference and current status
  4. Contact the relevant provider through its official support channel with those details

GoTyme’s contact page is the place to check its current support options. For a Wise transfer, use Wise’s transfer status and support. Do not ask the client to send a duplicate payment while the first one is still being traced.

You can use PinoyRemote’s invoice generator to lay out the agreed amount and payment instructions. Check that its format fits your own registration and invoicing requirements before using it.

GoTyme can be a practical destination for client payments when you want the money in pesos. Before switching, compare the actual method, total cost and timing with your current setup.
